Mordanted wool yarn, 100 g

Fingering weight

€7.50

Much of the joy in natural dyeing comes from achieving beautiful colors, while the necessary process of mordanting often feels like just a step we have to complete. Sometimes, we lack the time, extra pots, or access to different mordants to experiment with.

Over my ten years of working with natural dyes, I’ve discovered the excitement of preparing a dye solution, adding fibers treated with various mordants, and watching a stunning range of colors emerge from a single dye pot. That’s why I’d love to offer a wide selection of fingering-weight wool yarn, pre-mordanted with my favorite tannins and metallic salts, ready for your creative experiments.

On our website, you can choose not only the mordant but the natural color of wool itself. Indeed, some of my favorite results came from using naturally grey or brown wool! For example, I often dye alum-mordanted grey wool with yellow dyes, and it produces gorgeous forest greens.

Additionally, these yarns can be a great gift for your fellow natural dyers and crafters, especially if they are beginners or haven't tried natural dyeing yet.
